Description

In the west we regard free healthcare provision as a basic human right, yet many of the world’s poorest people still have little or no access to free medical care and health education. In many areas of greatest need you will find the church at the forefront – working to make healthcare a reality for those who have none.

For the diocese of Madurai-Ramnad in the region of Tamil Nadu in India, the provision of health services is a mission priority. Christian Mission Hospital, Madurai, IndiaRenewal and regeneration cannot take place unless mission encompasses the needs of the whole person. With help from mission agencies over the years, the diocese has been able to establish and maintain the Christian Mission Hospital in Madurai, the Dr Jones Hospital in Ramnad and the Skin Hospital in Kilanjunai. As well as providing 300 beds, the Christian Mission Hospital is the base from which free medical camps are provided in villages and other remote areas, bringing relief, healing and health education. But more than half of the population still has little or no access to local medical care or health education.

With our help, the medical mission will be able to extend its services to those who have no access to medical care or health education, update medical equipment and contribute to their dental heathcare programme which at present is severely limited. With our help, more people will know freedom from pain and suffering and be hopeful of a healthier future.
